The latest from Hourglass is a twist-up stick foundation. This is one for those who prefer a full on seamless and flawless foundation. It has a seriously amazing cover. It takes your skin back to a time when it had no environmental damage, redness or pigmentation. It's full on but it's also adaptable. Hourglass recommend using their buffing brush to enable you to apply small amounts, buff and then repeat if you want it fuller. Less really is more when it comes to this foundation. It's great if you have areas of discolouration which you want to cover well.
Works best on a normal through to oily skin. A dryer skin could totally wear it but only if you have no obvious dry texture. The creamy texture tends to cling a little to any patches, as do most cream stick foundations.
Oily skins may think this will be too creamy but it really isn't. It blends in and creates a satin veil which doesn't feel greasy.
Really nice selection of 26 shades...
Now for the negative.. Out of the 26 shades we were sent, 3 of them wouldn't twist back down after we twisted them up (they were only twisted up half a centimeter) and 6 more had totally come away from the base and were stuck in the lid making them completely unusable.
This could have been something which happened in transit or just a one off bad luck but I would advise checking your foundation stick before you leave the shop to make sure it's intact. £42 is a lot to spend on a foundation which is completely unusable and I think it would be hard to prove to the shop assistant that you hadn't just dropped it when you left the shop.If you're buying online then fingers-crossed for you! Because these are a cream stick they are pretty delicate. The foundation chips off the stick easily if you catch it on something so store it wisely and only wind it up a minimal amount to prevent the stick snapping.
The Shades....
This foundation is available now here.
I love the sound of this foundation but its a bit out of my price zone! great review though as always :)

I love the sound of this foundation to use as a concealer but that's such a shame about the ones that got damaged, definitely sounds like one you need to pick up from a shop in person and not buy online! xoxo Sarah from iheartcosmetics
ReplyDeleteThese look amazing! What shade would I go for if I'm NC42 in mac? I really want to buy this but don't want to buy online and not get the correct shade. Thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteLooks good! I would probably use for highlight and contour for ease!
