Black up Cosmetics Waterproof liners

Coloured liners are a great way to add vibrancy into your every day makeup with little effort. We were recently sent 4 coloured liquid liners and a black to test out from black up cosmetics.
Black up cosmetics are a brand which cater for black and ethnic skins but also has products, such as these liners which are totally suitable for all skin tones.

The flexible long nib creates a feathery light application that enables you to create even the finest, delicate of lines. The liquid is beautifully fluid without being to wet and dries off to a totally matte finish.

The colour pigment of these liners is super bold and true with the exception of the yellow, which needs a little more work.
The liners, once dry, last well on the skin and have the bonus of being waterproof too.
These liners are available from

MAC It's a Strike

One of MAC's autumnal collections coming up is 'It's a strike". It will be available in all locations and has a preppy vibe, just in time for heading back to school this September.
Relatively small collection of which we have three key pieces of in typical autumn shades.

Cremesheen glass in Perfect Frame is a rich plum with a mirror like shine. Looks beautiful over Perfect Score lipstick which is a slightly more Teracotta red in a matte finish.

The eye shadow we have is called Game 300 and is similar to Shadowy lady but with slightly more of  a red undertone.

We don't have it but if you are in store then you should also check out the pearlmatte face powder available with the collection.  It's a beautiful pink and pistachio powder embossed with skittles and a bowling ball. Too pretty to use!

This collection is available from September here.

Urban Decay Moondust Palette

Urban Decay's Moondust eye shadow texture and finish has always been a popular choice. To satisfy our glittery needs they have grouped together a selection of brand new shades in a gun mental sparkly palette.

The Moondust palette holds 8 new shades all with a high glitter and shimmer pay off.

The diamond shimmer from these is insane and although there is a little drop down from these, they do apply and blend nicely. The depth of colour is easy to build up but the more you blend, the more the shimmer moves away from the main body of colour.

This palette is available here now and is £35.00.

MAC Trolls Collection

We are proper old so we can remember Trolls the first time around. Although they didn't have a fancy gem in their belly button back then!
If you are a fan of Trolls or enjoy wearing alternative colours then you may like this collection. It has quite a few re promotes in it and some pretty wacky shades but it's a bit of fun isn't it!

We were sent four pieces from the collection to take a look at.

Chartreuse pigment is a re promote I believe. It's a beautiful golden green loose pigment with a highly reflective finish. Would look beautiful on its own over the lid or as an accent colour on the centre of the lid and inner corners of the eyes.

The lip products we were sent are a little less 'every day' shades. The lipstick in Can't be tamed is a pistachio green in a cream sheen finish. If you wear it lightly it will just give you a subtle green hue or you could mix it with another colour to create a unique shade. The blue gloss in Twerkquoise is probably not something you would wear on it's own but it looks pretty over the top of a pink lipstick.

The single eye shadow in Sillyvanilly is embossed with the troll logo and is a pretty standard white satin shade. Nothing to go crazy over.

The collection is available now here.

LOQI is a ridiculously cool brand to check out for zip pouches and bags with a super affordable price tag.
Huge variety of patterns and colours available and now that plastic bags are no longer available in the UK (unless you pay for them) you can fold them up small in your handbag ready to whip out at the checkout.

Made from polyester and also water proof you can use them for your cosmetics, shopping, or even as your main bag.

We have the POP trio of zip bags (they come as a three) which are great for makeup or any of the annoying items such as keys and phone which you tend to loose in your main bag.

Other styles we are loving from the brand...

They also make luggage covers to jazz up and protect your case when travelling. It also makes it easier to spot on the luggage belt, although I would worry it looks so cool that someone would steal it thinking there would be even cooler stuff inside!

The tote bags are €9.95 (around £8.50) and the trio of zip pouches are €14.95 (around £13.00). Definitely cooler than a naff old crumpled plastic bag. The luggage covers are €29.95 (around £26.00).
You can view all of what LOQI has to offer here.

Hourgalss Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick

The latest from Hourglass is a twist-up stick foundation. This is one for those who prefer a full on seamless and flawless foundation. It has a seriously amazing cover. It takes your skin back to a time when it had no environmental damage, redness or pigmentation. It's full on but it's also adaptable. Hourglass recommend using their buffing brush to enable you to apply small amounts, buff and then repeat if you want it fuller. Less really is more when it comes to this foundation. It's great if you have areas of discolouration which you want to cover well.

Works best on a normal through to oily skin. A dryer skin could totally wear it but only if you have no obvious dry texture. The creamy texture tends to cling a little to any patches, as do most cream stick foundations.

Oily skins may think this will be too creamy but it really isn't. It blends in and creates a satin veil which doesn't feel greasy.

Really nice selection of 26 shades...

Now for the negative.. Out of the 26 shades we were sent, 3 of them wouldn't twist back down after we twisted them up (they were only twisted up half a centimeter) and 6 more had totally come away from the base and were stuck in the lid making them completely unusable.

This could have been something which happened in transit or just a one off bad luck but I would advise checking your foundation stick before you leave the shop to make sure it's intact. £42 is a lot to spend on a foundation which is completely unusable and I think it would be hard to prove to the shop assistant that you hadn't just dropped it when you left the shop.If you're buying online then fingers-crossed for you! Because these are a cream stick they are pretty delicate. The foundation chips off the stick easily if you catch it on something so store it wisely and only wind it up a minimal amount to prevent the stick snapping.

The Shades....

This foundation is available now here.

Clinique Pop Matte lip colour + primer

Yay there's some new Clinique pop lipsticks out this week. We loved the originals from early last year and the latest launch is similar but with a matte finish.
The texture is really creamy and comfortable yet they provide a perfectly matte finish. They hug the lips and give a full deeply pigmented finish which looks like silk on the lips.

The added primer enables the colour to last well throughout the day and moisturising ingredients mean that they wear well rather than drying or caking at the edges.

Nice selection of summer/autumn shades...

These shades will be staying in line however peppermint pop, shock pop, avant garde pop and clove pop are all limited edition shades.
Available nationwide from 5th August.

Chanel Le Rouge Collection No1

-->  Chanel global creative makeup designer Luca Pica has debuted her autumn collection, Le Rouge Le collection No1.
Following on from Chanel's love of red, Lucia has created a beautiful fall collection, which encompasses all tones of red from tomato red through to russet.

For the eyes there is the illusion d'ombre which is one of our all time favourite Chanel products. It's a velvet touch, matte finish eye shadow which blends beautifully for a base to a smokey eye or on its own as your main eye shadow. The shade we have in Rouge Contraste is a rich chocolate brown that blends out to a warm diffused taupe. Amazing longevity and it doesn't crease or wear away.

The eye shadow quad is a great blend of warm browns with a copper red thrown in to jazz it up. Use the browns to create a smoked up eye and the blend the copper through the socket to add an interesting blend.

If you're old enough to remember Foxy Lady eye kohl by MAC and were as gutted as us when it was discontinued then you need to check out the Eros waterproof liner (top picture). The quad is £40.00. Illusion d'ombre is £25.00 and the eye liner is £19.00.

For the lips there are a selection of reds which are truly elegant.

The lipsticks are Rouge Allure Velvet which have a softly satin finish and intense pigment.
 The lipsticks are £26.00 each.

This collection is available from this Friday 5th August.

We first heard about this trend when the team at Real Techniques in Chicago were asking us for quotes about it. We had zero idea what they were talking about but after they explained the process we realised that it's basically just applying blusher in the way in which it is meant to be applied but with a bit of an 70’s/80’s edge, think Studio 54 Donna Summer or Blondie in her Heart of glass music video...

Instead of using contour colours to sculpt out the bone structure it’s using multiple blushers to colour the angles of the face and enhance the natural structure. It creates a more natural contour rather than the standard browns used in classic contouring techniques.

The name ‘draping’ refers to the layering of the various blushers being applied and then softly diffused out into each other.

Do we like it? Yeah of course, it’s something we think most people do on a daily basis anyway but I guess now that it has a name then people will be more purposeful with their blusher application.

It’s not really innovative but then what is these days? We say just carry on doing what you were doing with your blusher because the chances are you’ve been bang on trend without realising it.

Check out Sam using the multiple blusher layering here in her 80's Joan Collins Tutorial...
