Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation

This foundation launched in January but we have only just got our hands on it.
Firstly we love the bottle. A manageable size for your makeup bag at 20ml and very attractive ombré bottle.

We weren't as keen on the applicator wand. It's a teardrop shaped plastic wand which looks nice but is a little scratchy on the skin. You have to use the side of the teardrop to apply the product but because it isn't very big you have to re-dip frequently.

The actual foundation is a light weight liquid which reminds us of the Armani Maestro foundation http://goo.gl/dvQE22.
It feels sheer on the skin, is instantly absorbed and gives a beautiful velvet matte, almost a powder finish.
Evens out the skin well and has a soft focus effect. Works well on an oily or combination skin which prefers a lightweight cover. A slightly dryer skin may not find this moisturising enough.

Lasts well on the skin and available in 7 shades, all of which would suit a light through to a medium skin tone, nothing much for a deeper skin tone here i'm afraid and the shades we have seen are all yellow based.

We have three of the shades......

Available now at £8.99 each (although it's on offer at the moment for £5.99 from Boots http://goo.gl/SFf5nb )

  1. I've heard so many people rave about this foundation so am naturally intrigued to give it a go. The wand does look very strange and would probably swipe it onto a brush instead of my skin. As I am very pale it makes me happy to see a very light shade.

Thanks for the heads up regarding the Boots offer.

  2. I saw this when I was shopping my way through ASOS. I am inclined to give it a go but also not sure how the wand will turn out to be!

  3. This looks great for me as my skin isn't too dry and I prefer a light coverage, especially in the Spring. Excited to try this! x

  4. Typical in Australia we get a different shades.. all pink based. I'm in dire need of a light yellow based foundation that's cheap for days I don't want to use my Stila foundation.. so frustrating!

  5. I was very intrigued by this and swatched them in boots, they do have an incredibly satin finish but was disappointed that the ivory was too dark for my skin tone. Probably because they are yellow based, hopefully they'll bring out more shades! x

  6. I've heard a lot about this foundation! So glad that there are lighter shades (for those pale girls like moi) I think I'm going to give this a try, although the wand is a little off putting, I'd swipe a little on my hand and work from there.

  7. I'm not sure the wand thing does it for me. It puts me off the product completely and I have swatched it in store but can't get past it. Think this one is a miss.

  10. Hi, don't know if is this post is the right place to ask but... I would love to see some product (and hopefully a video where you can show how to use it) to fake dark circles around the eyes. I have wooded eyes and I find that drawing a shadow (I use a matt eyeshadow) faking dark circles and a bigger and "lower" lower lid helps to make my eyes look bigger and gives to my face a melancholic interesting look... I pair it with pink or red lips for a quirky contrast. I would be happy if you could do something with it. Thanks, love your work a lot.

  13. I remember seeing this last year in a few USA based vlogs and always been curious about it. Thought it was a dropper format but sounds like it's not :( Might have to test it out anyway as staying power is meant to be quite good

  14. This is my current foundation! I got it in a 3 for 2 promotion in Super drug a month back. I'm impressed! I'm an Ivory babe and it is a brilliant match, I don't need to use extra powder over top. It's good coverage and goes on like satin!! The feeling as you apply it is beautiful! I sometimes put a little extra on just because of its lushness! The wand is disappointing. I just don't see its purpose and I don't see any ease in it being there, it's quite scratchy! However, for an affordable foundation at £5.99. It's a pretty good beauty steal! Love to you guys at Pixi Woo xxx

  16. Umm…. you're not supposed to put the wand on your skin. That should be obvious. You allow the foundation to drip from the wand onto your hand or a palette. Unfortunately, although this is a gorgeous foundation when worn (it has a high pigment content so you don't need much to get good coverage) it also has a high alcohol content, which can be very damaging to skin over the long term (and makes it bad for dry skin). The Armani original - which is basically the same foundation, made by the same company - has the same problem. Not worth the risk, imo.

    1. You can use it straight onto your skin actually and it's clearly not obvious because so many people have agreed with this same point.

    2. To be fair it does say on the bottle to drop the product from the wand onto your fingers then apply. I tried this foundation but found it clung to the drier areas of my skin and I don't even have particularly dry skin. You did warn us it though!!
Love your blogs and videos - so down to earth and informative x

  17. Great for those with great skin. Blended too sheer for me and my skin.

  18. Ooh you had me at Armani! I'm still a fan of their dream nude or whatever it's called, am definitely interested in this one. The applicator idea doesn't bother me too much as I usually blob foundation on my hand and then dip my brush in it anyway (Is that gross? My hands are clean!).

    1. Dream satin liquid, that's the one I meant! This sounds even sheerer?
