Kiko Double Dare

The January launch for Kiko is a preppy collection inspired by retro school years. If you are old enough to remember Happy Days then the packaging will remind you of that.

We particularly like the shadow/liner and lipstick/liner pens. Great space saving makeup products which are quick and conveniant to use.

The eye shadow/liner pens have a twist-up cream eye shadow in one end and a liner in the other. The cream covers the lid in a soft metallic pigment which blends easily with amazing lasting power. Use on their own or use as a base under a powder eye shadow.
The liner feels equally as soft and compliments it's cream eye shadow partner perfectly.

The lipstick/liner provides a rich, moisturising lipstick with identically matched lip liner. The lipstick texture is creamy and provides a soft sheen, the only negative is that the rounded tip of the lipstick makes it tricky to get a precise application if you have thinner lips.

Both eye and lip products are £7.90 and will be available as part of the Kiko Campus Idol collection in January.

MUFE Lash Show

Make Up For Ever have launched a whole bunch of great false lashes but these are the stand out ones for us...
The Lash Show Natural Impact pack consists of a mix of brown and black lashes. There are short, medium and long lashes in either a tight packed lash or a splayed out lash.

The fine compact lashes are great to dot in at the center of the eye to add volume at the root that looks completely natural. The splayed out lashes will give you length and can be used all along the lash line. Use the shorter ones at the inner corner, medium length in the middle and the longest towards the outer edge of the eye. The good thing about the longer ones are that they are not rediculously long like some brands.
The mini glue is included and coats the lash bulb in an opal blue adhesive. This makes it easy to see during application but will dry off completely clear.

These lashes are great for natural looks, weddings or for those with very sparse or fair lashes.
These are £14.00 and you can get hold of these here..

Armani Maestro Glow Foundation

Big fans of glowing skin and the latest from Armani delivers this big time!

This foundation is contained in the same pipette style applicator as Armani Maestro, read about that one here..
Not overly keen on this style of application method. It's a bit of a faff placing droplets onto your face or brush but I guess it's hygienic and looks swanky.

The texture, as with Maestro Fusion , is very liquid  although it blends much easier than Fusion.
The coverage is pretty sheer. Softly evens out the skin tone but by no means a heavy finish. If you are blessed with great skin then this foundation will look pretty awesome. If you have pigmentation, blemishes or open pores then we think there are other foundations which will compliment your skin better. The radiance highlights any skin flaws like a spot light unfortunately.
As the name suggests, this foundation is all about the glow and boy does it do that! We tested this on a few different skin tones and types to see how it performed.
If you have a combination or oily skin you may find it too moisturising. It still felt tacky on the skin for a good hour and pooled slightly in the oily T-zone. It had also started to wear a little by the end of the day but that would also be down to the oily skin type. If you're happy to touch up during the day then go for it.
On a dryer skin it sat better. So long as you don't have any obvious dry patches it blends nicely into the skin. Longevity was better and it felt much nicer on the skin.

Now lets talk about the glow.....
It's VERY glowing but the glow works better on certain skin tones. The highlighting pigment provides a cool toned sheen rather than a warm golden radiance. On a yellow toned skin this pigment seemed to work against the warmth of the skin and looked ashy. The ashy tone in turn made the skin appear metallic rather than radiant, probably not the look you had in mind. As with all makeup you can blend in other products to make it work. Buffing in a cream bronzer on the high points of the face helped to counteract the metallic edge but at this kind of price do you really want to be applying more product to correct it?

No4 under artificial light

No4 in Daylight

If you have a porcelain or a cool skin tone then the radiance works. It highlights the skin with a celestial sheen which looks natural and gorgeous.

On the high street it looks good, on camera you need to be cautious. It's very radiant and coupled with the SPF30 this does have a kind of soft focus flashback. If you fancy a radiant Armani foundation for your wedding day then stick with Luminous silk, it photographs better.

Available in 9 shades, one of which is super light so great for a very fair skin. We were surprised how light the No4 shade came up. If you are normally a number 4 in Armani's other foundations you may want to double check this shade before purchasing.
We only had the shade in No4 to test so maybe the darker colours appear warmer on the skin.

To quote it's full title...deep breath.....Maestro glow-Nourishing fusion makeup Bi-phase elixir SPF30...phew what a name, is available from February and will be £40.

Halo Wipes

It's the little things in life that make you happy! We have mentioned in our tutorials our love of wipes for the face (naughty girls!) but Halo have produced wipes we don't need to be ashamed of!
These little packs contain wipes for all the other quick cleansing needs in your life. Perfect for freshening up before a night out straight from work, for your hand luggage during your travels or in our case, cleaning up our children!

Stacey who works here at Pixiwoo recently had a baby and took a selection of these in her hospital bag to save space. After having a Caesarean Section she said using these in her hospital bed was an absolute saviour.

  • Deodorant wipes
Great for your gym bag or during the day. The best thing is there are no risk of white marks.

  • Facial wipes
We all know what these are  good for! Fragrance free also so good for a more sensitive skin.

  • Moistened toilet tissue
The worst feeling ever when you reach for the toilet roll in a public toilet and there's none left. Worry no more!! Don't flush these down the loo though, pop them in the sanitary bin.
  • Anti-bac surface wipes
For you OCD clean people these are great. Wipe over eating surface, toilet seats, door handles..whatever you thing needs a bit of a clean. Antibacterial protection against E.Coli and other harmful bacteria.
  • Eye makeup remover wipes
These are great for festivals and weekends away when you can't be bothered to take a bottle of eye makeup remover or when on flights where you aren't allowed liquids.
  • Hand wipes
Great for everyday use in your handbag.

These little packs are pocket size and keep moist. Each pack has 10 wipes and the eye makeup remover pads have 30. They are so handy to have and also make nice little stocking fillers.
They are avaialable from a variety of locations and all seem to be different prices depending on where you purchase from so shop around. Each pack ranges from 0.80p at Sainsbury's to £1.20 at Boots. Also avaialble at Superdrug and Tesco.

Clarins Instant Glow Spring Collection

Enough of Christmas, onwards to Spring makeup! January collections are usually all about a fresh start and this collection fits nicely into that category. Emerging from the dark winter is this selection of iridescent glowing shades.
For the eyes we particularly like the Ombre Iridescent. Four shades of cream to powder eye shadow which contain a blend of soft focus, shimmering pressed pigments.

Silver Plum, Silver Green, Silver Pink, Silver Ivory

Easy to blend over the lid in a wash of cool toned colour which lasts well on the lid. Each shade has a beautiful satin finish infused with a radiant silver sheen. We think these eye shadows work best on their own blended over the lid. When worn together they tend to look a little muddy and dated. Keep the eye fresh with a blend of one of these and lashings of black mascara.
 These are £19 each.

If you prefer something warmer toned for the eye then there is a new limited edition 5-colour palette. Peach, rose-bronze and chocolate palette is a similar iridescent finish. This palette is £33.

The lipsticks are a gorgeous blend of moisturising ingredients including vitamin E, mimosa, jojoba and sunflower. The colours are all coral pinks with a creamy sheen and delicious scent. Each lipstick is £19.50.

To finish are two new instant light lip perfectors. These are always our go-to lip products when we are in a rush so we are pretty happy about the latest two shades to add to our handbags! These are £18 each.

This collection is available from 10th January 2016.

Dita Von Teese for MAC

Dita Von Teese has collaborated with MAC before during their Viva glam campaign a few years back. She has joined forces again to produce her signature red lip with a limited edition lipstick called Von Teese.
Inspired by Dita's new book, Your beauty mark, the lipstick is packaged in a patent black case with Dita's name scrolled across in red.
The lipstick bullet twists up to reveal her name engraved at the base.

Despite how glossy the lipstick looks in the campaign image it's actually more of a satin texture with a matte finish.
Glides onto the lips with a comfortable creaminess and provides a bold colour pay-off in an intense tomato red.

Sam has used this lipstick in next weeks tutorial but has blended out the edges to give a more diffused look rather than a solid, bold lip. This is a softer way to wear the lipstick for the day.

This lipstick is £17.00 and available from 16th December for a limited time.
