Autumn/Winter skin survival

Alas Summer has gone Boo hoo! This is the time of year when our skin realises the sun has been replaced by a bone freezing north wind and starts to freak out.

I thought I would share with you some of our skin saviours this Autumn /Winter.

REN Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser-100ml-£15.00
 http://www.renskincare.com
Sorry I used all this up before I took a picture so generic product shot!

Suitable for all skin types and particularly nice on a sensitive skin. Tiny Jojoba beads exfoliate the skin removing all the nasty pollutants and dead skin that have built up during the day.
After massaging for a few moments the cleanser turns slightly balmy so it won't feel scratchy or irritate a dry/sensitive skin.
Peppermint, sage and rose extracts help to freshen and soothe the skin during cleansing. Nice scent, not too minty (doesn't smell like a foot scrub!).
I like to use this in the mornings to save time by cleansing and exfoliating in one.
Skin is brightened through the exfoliation and my face feels clean and soft.

Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner-125ml-£25.00
http://www.clarins.co.uk/

Seems to be an exfoliating theme going on here doesn't there! Acid based toners are new to me and I have to say I will never not have one in my skin care regime now. If you suffer with congestion, blocked pores, blemishes this is a fabulous product.
It is a lotion style toner so apply a few drops onto a cotton pad and sweep over face and neck.
Skin breakouts are often caused by a build up of dead skin cells and this toner will help to prevent a build up of dead skin.
Because this is a fruit acid based toner Clarins advise not to use it every day in case of sensitivity but to be honest I have been using it every day and evening with no problem.
Tamarind fruit acids eliminate impurities and help to increase skin renewal.
If you are going on holiday or live in the sun be cautious when using a fruit acid toner in the sun.
Suitable for all skin types but a must on problematic skin.

Bioderma Hydrabio Masque-75ml-£14.50
 http://www.bioderma.com

This mask is so creamy and rich it's a real treat to use. Slather this on and go lie down for 10minutes or if time is short layer on at bedtime and rinse off in the morning.
Contains an ingredient called Aquagenium which helps stimulate the skins cell renewing properties and build skins tolerance, perfect after a bracing walk on the beach.
After using I could see the colour difference in my skin, it looked soothed and hydrated.
Great for all skins and as it doesn't feel oily at all and  is lovely for an oily skin.

 Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist-200ml-£40.00
http://www.jurlique.co.uk/

I know this seems like a bit of an expensive treat but it's great to spritz this over during the day.
I keep this on my desk and when I want to give my skin a re touch I spritz this on and then touch up my makeup. It allows you to slightly dampen the face to re buff in any foundation/eyeshadow creasing.
Contains a blend of 5 types of roses, marshmallow root to act as a moisture magnet and aloe vera to calm and soothe.
Good for all skin types, smells amazing and makes me happy on a cold dark winter morning.

 REN Vita Mineral Lip Balm-15ml-£9.00
http://www.renskincare.com

REN again but this little tube of moisture is fab. Squeezy with an angled application tip for ease.
Contains bio extracts of vitamin E, Acacia honey for its anti bacterial properties and calendula to soothe. No nasties in here just natural ingredients.
Gives lips a moisturised sheen and is also nice to wear over a lipstick to stop colour sticking to dry lips.

These are some of our current faves but we would love to know what your winter survival items are.

  6. I've wanted the clarins exfoliating toner for a while now, because exfoliators with beads aren't good for the skin.

  7. I can't find the REN Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser available anywhere - not even on REN's website. Is that because I am in the U.S.?
