NYX Butt Naked Palette

If you're a lover of compact products housing all your make up needs under one lid then you need to cast your eyes over the NYX Butt naked palette.
15 eyeshadows in matte and metallic in soft taupe, pinks, plums and smoky browns.
Colours have a good amount of pay off and blend easily.

Hidden underneath is a pull out drawer of a golden bronzer which could be used to contour with two highlight powders in shimmery gold or peach.
The four blusher squares are all pink tones from baby pink, peach/gold, vibrant fuchsia pink and rose.

This palette is £25.00 and available from multiple sites globally.
From the UK it is available from

Superdry Neon Orange Fragrance

When I think of the Superdry brand I think of cool clothing with their Japanese graphics so I was interested to see what their new Neon range of fragrance smelt like.
The Neon range holds four different scents including Neon Pink-Oriental Amber, Neon Blue-Fresh floral, Neon Purple-Creamy Ozonic and Neon Orange-Fruity Citrus.

We were kindly scent a sample of the Neon Orange fragrance.
The square chunky box packaging in bright neon orange (obviously) encased a glass 40ml bottle of the perfume.
Although this line is a female fragrance the packaging feels slightly masculine.
The glass is  embossed with the Superdry logo and symbols and the soft plastic lid flips open on a hinge so that it resembles a lighter.

The actual scent is very pleasing.Very soft, zesty and not like bathroom cleaner which I often think orange based fragrances smell like!
The ingredients are all you would expect from a citrus based fragrance including Mandarin, Blood orange, Blackcurrant, Orange blossom, Pineapple and Cedarwood.

Although I feel like this should be a summer fragrance it actually works in the winter months and the orange and cedarwood give it an almost Christmassy feel.

These fragrances are £35.00 and available now form Superdry stores, larger Boots and selected department stores.

The Pro Make up shop

We all know that it's essential to have products in your kit to maintain hygiene.

Brush cleanser, anti-bacterial hand gel and sanitisers are not as exciting in your kit as a palette of beautiful eyeshadows but none the less just as important.

The Pro make up shop has an excellent array of products from sanitisers, disposable wands, empty palettes, adhesives and more.

The great thing about this store is that they sell a selection of different kits so you can purchase everything you need in one shop for a cheaper price. (see pic above)
The variety is amazing with every single shape of disposable mascara wand and we love that they also make eco friendly disposables with bamboo handles from sustainable resources.

Eco Bamboo handle applicators
I'll be honest, these products are not as cheap as you may think. You are looking at around £5.00 for a pack of 25 disposables. Brush Cleanser and sanitisers are obviously more but if it saves you from cross infection then we believe they are worth every penny.

New to the industry, professional or just a clean freak you must check these products out.

Top Shop's latest

Britain's leading fashion retailer Top Shop is our first port of call to view whats hot in fashion.Sometimes when brands attempt to cross over into other markets such as cosmetics I always expect the products to be of a lower quality with gimicky packaging. I think I feel this way as the make up stands within fashion retail outlets are often left unmanned with sticky testers and dusty eyeshadow fingerprints on the mirrors!
Topshop however have made a great transition into the world of beauty.
As with fashion they keep up with the trends and release new products frequently.
Looks like coral and bronze are in for Autumn/Winter according to these gems!

Our favourites at the moment are The chubby pencil lipstick in the colour Hedonist.
A creamy totally matte vivid orange. The matte texture ensures it has great staying power and one slick of this gives a full opaque finish.
Available in four different colours these are £7.00 each.

Another gorgeous product for the lips is Lip Marker. These are a long wearing lip stain in a felt tip pen style application.Wet enough to apply without drag but drys quickly.
This is really long lasting but ensure you use a lip pencil as it will feather out into lines.
Make sure lips are moisturised before application as it will cling onto dry skin making it more obvious.
We love the colour in Hot Shot which is a bright pink coral. These are £8.00 each.

If you like the idea of these vibrant corals but are a little intimidated by the boldness then check out their Glaze in Laid Back.
It looks bright in the tube however goes on in a soft coral tint which is almost transparent.
Would suit all skin tones but looks gorgeous on darker skin tones or those lucky enough to have a tan.
 Bargain price of £6.00

I love Topshop's eye kohl in the colour Saddle.Sometimes black is too harsh so try this colour for a deep bronze brown with red metallic undertones.
A soft kohl that looks great on a light eye in the waterline or as a base for a smoky eye.
Easy to blend with good staying power.Priced at £5.00 each

You can get hold of these products from Topshop stores now or from their website

Anastasia Bold and Beautiful kit

Anastasia's products always tell a story and her latest kit for the eyes and brows are presented as a duo book set.

Volume 1 book is for bold brows and encased in the slimline vintage book casing is a powder brow colour and pomade to set the hairs.Mini tweezers and double ended brush complete the kit.
The brow powder is a soft taupe colour and would be suitable for medium blonde through to natural brown hair colour. The pommade which is a soft wax looks dark but tints the brows to a similar colour to the powder.
Tiny silver slanted end tweezers pick out the smallest hairs with precision and ease and the synthetic angled brush lets you apply the colour exactly where you need it.

In Volume 2 four colours make up the beautiful eyes collection.
A nude mink, metallic peach, taupe with a soft gold fleck and an amazing deep black containing red and gold glitter pigments.
Again a double ended brush with a synthetic flat blending brush on one end and a short domed socket brush.

Colours have a good payoff and blend well whilst still keeping the glitter pigment.
Apply on their own for a softer look but layer over a cream eyeshaodw or pencil and press the colour into the skin with the flatter brush for a smouldering intensity.

Because of it's size this kit will not take up any space in your make up bag and would be ideal to travel with.
If your stuck for ideas on how to wear these colours Anastasia has included a mood board of face charts for inspiration.

The only downside is you will have to wait until spring 2013 to get your hands on this story!

Keep up to date with Anastasia products and their launches on their website

Bond Girl Series: Jane Seymour

As with my previous two Bond Girls, the research was tricky, finding usable close up shots was tough. I resorted to watching the film clip over and over again and trying to pause when Solitaire blinks!
I did find a pretty good eyes open shot on google though (below).

Live and Let Die (1973)  is the eighth spy film in the James Bond series, and the first to star Roger Moore.

Jane Seymour plays psychic tarot card reader and JB love interest, Solitaire.
Her make-up is exotic and entirely indicative of the 70s decade in which it was filmed. If she had big hair, hotpants and roller-skates she could be partying in Studio 54.

Dior Grand Bal for Christmas

October is turning out to be mild and sunny here in the East of England so writing about Christmas collections feels too soon.
Christmas is just over two months away though so I need to put my carols on, drink some mulled wine and get in the mood!

This year Dior's christmas theme is based around the idea of a 17th Century Grand Ball.
The packaging is an opulent antique gold that looks glamorous and luxurious.

The 5 couleurs palette in Night Golds possibly has every colour you would need to create a bronze/gold smoky eye.
All shades have a shimmer finish finish so not for a lover of matte textures.

The lightest highlight colour is a high frosted finish in a gold toned pearl.
Two mid-tone colours in a warm beige and brighter gold to contour and a strong glittery copper gold complete the bronze colours while in the center embellished with the Dior logo is a smoky dark brown that conatins the smallest particles of gold glitter.
This palette is so beautiful and each colour could be worn alone or blended with ease into each other.
This palette is £40.00

A Grand Ball wouldn't be complete without False lashes and for the first time Dior has created two sets of synthetic false lashes.
The set you can see here has tiny silver drops on the outer edge whilst the other set has gold Swarovski crystals.
These lashes will give a long length and subtle volume. The only downside I would say about these lashes is that if they need to be trimmed you would have to trim from the inside, otherwise you will cut the silver drops off.
Cutting from the inside means the lashes don't flow as nicely on the eyes as some of the gradient has been removed.
The lashes are £19.00

The nail varnish steps away from the normal Dior packaging and opts for a squat pot style with a gold lid.
We have the colours in a deep red called Marilyn or Diorling in a sheer wash of fine gold glitter.
Both need two coats to get the full intensity.
Nail Polish £20 each.
Lady(L)  Marilyn(R)

Fitting with the theme of the Polish bottles the lipstick casing is a gold rounded end with ribbed center.
Diorific Lipstick is available in six shades. We love these two vibrant reds in Marilyn (to match the nail varnish) and Lady.
Marilyn is a blue based glossy red while Lady is a deeper pillar box red.
Both are £25.00

Other products featured in this collection include a powder, waterproof liner and gloss.

Dior Grand Bal is available exclusively from Selfridges 19th October 2012 and nationwide 2nd November 2012.
I'm thinking this will be a fast seller so if Cinderella wants to go to the ball then get in there fast!

Sleek Make-up Shangri-la Palettes

As you will know if you are a pixiwoo viewer we are big fans of Sleek palettes and their latest two palettes do not disappoint.

These palettes are a collaboration between london based fashion house PPQ and Sleek Make-up.
PPQ is a fashion house launched by Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker.
They are responsible for such trends as the drain pipe jeans and for dressing major music artists such as Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty.
The palettes are inspired by 60's motown and both are filled with 12 vibrant, high pigment powder eyeshadows.
We love the motown shade names for the colours too!

The Respect palette is a mixture of warm toned neutrals, plum and corals with a hot pink thrown in for good measure.
This palette is so versatile and even though you may feel slightly scared by the brighter tones these really do blend down to a softer hue if you mix them with the other more natural colours.
I even like to pop a little of the bright coral called Otis red on the apples of my cheeks.

The Supreme palette is great for people who prefer the more earthy tones of ochre and moss green through to the brighter aqua and greys.
Perfect for a sultry heroin chic stained eye.
Mainly matte but also a frosted white to highlight and lift.

Both palettes are priced at £7.99 each.

To complete this 60's look go for the classic matte, opaque lip of the era. Think Dusty Springfield and Diana Ross.
Two colours available in a neon orange based red called Jazz that is so bright it actually hurts my eyes!
The second is a blue based baby pink called Soul.
Both are totally matte so ensure your lips are in tip top condition with no dry skin before application.
Both are super long lasting and slightly staining.
Deeply, Truly, Mattely glosses are £4.99 each

This palette and glosses are out now in all Superdrug stores nationwide and
