Nic and I had a lovely tweet from the gorgeous Alesha Dixon yesterday and as you may know she is the face of the new AVON Ideal Flawless Foundation. Which, I then realised hadn't yet featured on the blog.
When writing a post I usually google the product to find out other peoples experiences, this helps to either validate my own opinions or to make me think a little more.
While googling I came across this brilliant backstage video of the 'Ideal Flawless' shoot.
I urge you to watch this, it is full of great make-up tips from the very lovely Liz Pugh and Alesha's skin looks heavenly. Such tips validate my own love of lipstick on cheeks!
Ok, back to the foundation...
AVON Ideal Flawless Foundation is Oil-Free with an SPF15. It is £12.00 for 30ml and available from Avon or your local Avon representative.
It comes in 16 shades, from very pale to darker that Alesha. Nic and I always like to see cosmetic brands embrace darker and lighter skin tones, as they should.
Ideal Flawless comes in a slick glass bottle with a black cap not dissimilar to some other prestige brands. It looks expensive and classy on the dressing table.
The texture of the product itself feels smooth and moisturising. It blends into skin perfectly without looking cakey or thick but has incredible coverage.
Due to the oil-free formulation it is suitable for all skin types and does set so you need to work quickly.
Just like Liz Pugh in the video (above), I think you get optimum results from this foundation if you apply it with your hands or a buffing brush.
A great foundation for the price and lets hope we see more brands incorporating shades for darker skin.
I've been wondering about this foundation. Thank you for the post! xo

Its always hard to choose a foundation shade without trying it first so I love how in the adverts Alesha says 'my shade is caramel' as it gives you something to reference. If I hadn't of seen that id of gotten that shade and it would be too dark for me.

Excellent! I too am a lover of lipstick on cheeks! It is so easy in a pinch!
ReplyDeleteI've recently started using Avon products, but hadn't really considered their foundations. Thanks for the review. I might have to give this a try.
I used to use Avon products exclusively years ago, but since I've moved four years ago, I 'lost' my representative and haven't gone back since. But with all these new formulations and colors, it really inspires me to try them again!

The thing with some makeup brands that provide for darker skin tones is they only seem to have most for red undertones and im an nc50 so it comes out darker. Hopefully theyl do samples as i want to try nutmeg and it seems a good product. Thanks for the review, love your site!

Soon as i saw this post i remembered i had a sample lying around so i tried it. i got the colour in medium beige but i dont think the colour is right for me. i thought it was a bit stingy that you were only allowed to order one sample. i mean who gets it right the first time round anywAY!!!
ReplyDeleteavon has a return policy so if your not happy, it's not the right color return it
Deletei have an in-depth review of this foundation. unfortunately, we don't get a full video of what this model might look like several hours after wearing this foundation. for me, i looked like an oil slick after 4 hours of wearing this makeup and it moved all over my face! it was awful. it applied beautifully and looked gorgeous for the first few hours but after that, all bets are off. i love and use a ton of avon products but always stayed away from their foundations as i never found them to be all that great. this one is no exception.
ReplyDeleteto see my complete review of this foundation as well as other avon products and BEFORE and AFTER photos, check out my blog here: http://bettygirlmakeup.blogspot.com/2012/02/massive-review-and-lotd-with-avon.html
thanks all!
betty xx
Again nowhere near dark enough, I don't know why cosmetic companies act like dark skinned people do not exist!!
ReplyDeleteIt's really sweet to see Liz Pugh doing her thing. We were at college together in the 80s, she had a bleached white quiff of hair!!! Fantastic, happy memories. I have a great Avon rep and like to support her, I'm probably her most loyal customer and buy thousands of the polishes, great zingy colours and they last so well too. Always use the mineral foundation, so quick and easy, I just blend two colours to suit the time of the year. Easy stuff!!
ReplyDeleteWhich shade of this foundation is similar to Mac's nc40?

ReplyDeleteHi! I have a question for Nik, what shade are you in Avon Ideal Flawless foundation? I noticed that you are 3.5 Warm Beige in Bobbi Brown foundation and that is my shade as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
