Ever dyed your hair red? If the answer is yes then you will know the intensive work that goes into maintaining the vibrancy for any longer than 1 or 2 weeks.
I learnt from experience that you just can't use any old shampoo.
Initially, I was using the TRESemmé 24hr Body shampoo and conditioner. Fabulous if you want body, not so great if you want red hair. So I swapped to TRESemmé Colour Revitalise Fade Protection Shampoo & Conditioner
To say that this made a difference would be an understatement. Immediately, I noticed significantly less colour in the water when I washed my hair and I managed to go 5-6 weeks without needing to re-colour.
Having recently dyed my hair dark brown I am considering swapping to Colour Thrive Brunette Shampoo. Anyone tried it?
I'm using this combo right now and it works great and is also very moisturizing.
ReplyDeleteOhh i'm totally checking those out, i love Tresemme and i bought a red dye the other day!
ReplyDeleteFor brown hair i'd really recommend Lee stafford's Blinding Brunette shampoo and conditioner(especially the shampoo!) they really are great, noticed a difference straight away!

I've had my hair colored red since the summer of last year. Being a cosmetology student, my instructor told me of a shampoo that is amazing for red hair. Not sure if you can find it online or not, but here in the states, it is only available to cosmetology students and licensed salon professionals.
ReplyDeleteIt's by a line called Tressa Watercolors. I use the one labeled fluid fire (for medium to dark red tones). I have never once had any issue with fading. Even by the time I am due for a retouch it hasn't faded. It's amazing!
You should look into it. :)
I have the thermal protector and I love it, thanks for the review! thnaks for sharing
ReplyDeleteMy favorite brunette hair product is the Aveda Clove shampoo/conditioner. It really makes hair shiny, silky and helps maintain the loveliest warm chocolate color. It's a bit on the pricey side, though, so I alternate it with the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette collection. I really like that the John Frieda shampoos/conditioners also treat your hair for shine/volume/moisture, depending on whatever you're looking for, since the Brilliant Brunette collection has various products and not just one type of shampoo/conditioner.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this post, I dyed my hair red recently and at first it was brilliant but faded so quickly. Will give these a go when I redye! xx
ReplyDeleteI've been dying my hair red for over a year now and i have always used this range from Tresemme, love them :)

I wish I'd known how good these were when I dyed my hair red a few months ago. I plan on dying it again soon so I'll definitely be buying this range from Tresemmé to maintain the intensity of the colour. :)x

I've tried that brand and I like the smell but don't get particular great results in keeping my red. I have fire-truck red hair and I know keeping it red is such a pain. The only real way to get a good shampoo that won't strip the color is to use a sulfate free shampoo. The sulfate just takes out the color so fast. I'm currently using L'Oreal Everpure shampoo - which is not the best, but is one of the cheaper sulfate free ones so worth checking out to help keep your red well, RED! :)
ReplyDeletei used to swear by the tresemme shampoos but havent used them for ages... might pick them up next time i need some :D

I use Tresemme's colour protect combo, have done for a year now since I coloured my hair bright red. It's not bad, and I generally like Tresemme anyway, but lately I have started mixing it with Kerastase's shampoo and conditioner - literally blending the two shampoos in my hand, same with the conditioner. My colourist recommended this; he pointed out that colour-protect shampoos act on the colour, but don't actually replace any of the protein in your hair that dyeing can strip out, and restoring it with a protein-rich shampoo/conditioner will make the hair naturally cling to colour better in the long-term.
ReplyDeleteEarly days (been trying it for about a month now) but we'll see if he's right!
I have bright red hair at the moment and its really hard to keep the colour in it. I will be defo checking these out , thanks so much :) xx

I dyed my hair auburn about a month ago and was told by my stylist to try this shampoo & conditioner. It is by far the BEST I have ever used. My color hasn't faded at all! Love it!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWow..its a great and valuable products for my hair....
ReplyDeleteAlterna caviar shampoo
I have blonde highlights in dark, ashy blonde hair and I use Organic Connect silver shampoo- it has been really great. My highlights haven't faded or gone brassy at all. It's a bit pricey but I would definitely recommend it for blondes. My mum uses the brown version and that works really well for her too.
ReplyDeleteTresemme shampoos absolutely wrecked my hair - would avoid all of them like the plague, my hairdresser told me (after I had been using them for approx a year) that they are really strong. Now using Aussie heat resistant and have happy hair again.
