Illamasqua have recently launched a new foundation and wow is it fantastic. I love it. It comes in a huge array of colours and tones so there is pretty much a foundation for everyone. Once you have the right colour you are well on your way to flawless skin. It completely evens out complexion without looking or feeling too heavy and brightens the skin instantly. Only a small amount of product is needed for optimum results and it absolutely lasts all day so in my opinion is a perfect base and a foundation you can completely trust. *
The shades here are No.8 and No.9, you can see how the tone completely varies between shades. It is available in 18 shades with varying undertones i.e Pink, Pink/Yellow, Yellow/Pink, Olive etc
The foundation was inspired by the up and coming cult Beauty Balm creams in the Asian market which are known for perfecting skin and being the solution to a completely even complexion. It blends into the skin beautifully making it really easy and efficient to work with. It leaves skin feeling soft and renewed and the coverage is buildable so you can alter it to get your desired look, which also makes it great for taking you from day to night. Another really important point about this foundation is that it photographs beautifully, with no flashback or unnatural appearance. I just love it.
The foundation is £25 and is worth every penny.
See the foundation in action in the recent Illamasqua tutorial -
*This is my opinion based on application to my own skin (and Nic's).
Outcome of payoff may be different on other skin types so please try before you buy.
I love the finish of this foundation but I find it just does not last. No matter if I use primers, setting powders and Iv even tried different moisturisers before hand and it just wont stay! :( xxxx
ReplyDeleteReally want to try this foundation!
ReplyDeleteHi Sam, Thanks for the amazing review. I'd love to ask you which shades you ould suggest for a mua pro kit. i was actually thinking to buy this foundation for my kit but not sure which shades should I pick. any suggestions? thanks!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a real pity we don't have Illamasqua in Spain, so how can I check what my colour is? :(.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it looks gorgeous on you both!!!
Kisses from Spain!
It looks good on swatches :)
ReplyDeleteIs this brand available in the U.S.?

Dear pixiwoo, please help me with a shade. I'm from Canada and have no possibility of trying it first!! I ordered it in the shade SB 02, and it turned out too light... ($50 gone... :( )
ReplyDeleteA perfect match for me is Laura Mercier's Porcelain tinted moisturizer and Bobbi Brown's Luminous Moisturizing Foundation in 0 Porcelain. Should I go one shade darker or two shades darker with Illamasqua -- BS 03 or SB 04? I don't think I have any particular undertones, but yellow undertones seems to work fine...
Thank you!!!
How would you suggest applying this? As in, what type of brush, fingers, sponges?
ReplyDeleteI used my fingers and found as the foundation dried really quick it was better to use my budget version of the beauty blender
DeleteSam, do you know if this can be purchased anywhere in the States? I've looked online and everywhere else and just can't find it. Would love to get my hands on some! :D
ReplyDeleteWould this foundation work for oily skin also? Unfortunately, Sephora is the only store I know that carries this brand in the U.S., but I don't believe that they carry this foundation in stores or online on their site. I have been wanting to try this. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDelete@Sallyanne
ReplyDeleteThe same here... lovely finish but it tends to get streaky after a while on oily areas... a pitty.
I hope this becomes available at Sephora! I have the Rich Liquid foundation (available at select Sephora stores in the US) and use it as concealer as I have a lot of discolorations. Works great for that and today my eyeshadow even stayed on better when I used some as a base on my eyelids :) x
ReplyDeleteSounds great - can I get your views on Dior Skin Nude... got a sample and am just loving it!!
ReplyDeleteI initially loved this foundation but the more I wore it the more it started to disappoint me. I fund it started to wear off really quickly and it felt quite greasy on my skin.
ReplyDeleteI agree that's what I found too!
DeleteHmm maby ill try it but looking at Sallyanne comment im not quite sure if i want foundation wich does not last long.
ReplyDeleteCheck out new post

TOTALLY unrelated but i just had to ask because i did not see an update. Did you ever get a statement from Makeup Forever about their animal testing status? I have searched all over the web and have found almost nothing. It seems everyone agrees they are a grey area.
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance!
i really want to try this but because the shade range is so huge i think i need to try it at a counter before i buy... :D

I would really love to try it! :) Does it fit every skintype, like combination to oily for instance?
ReplyDeleteIs this for all skin types? I hope so...
ReplyDeleteI found the foundation on the Sephora website in the US. But is the Keromask available in the US,haven't been able to find it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the review. Can't wait to come in the UK to have a proper look at it !
ReplyDeleteI am really intrigued with this foundation, I will try to get my hands to one of them, thanks for the review, take care
ReplyDeletegreat video! i've just started using illamasqua and have been impressed with it so far, can't wait to try more of it and expirament! Just wondering, what foundation brushes did you use in this video? I have a really cheap and crap set of brushes right now as im saving for an awsome set =)
ReplyDeleteThanks Heaps, great work!
x
I really really wanted to love this foundation as I am quite pale and the best foundation I have used is Clinique but neither Clinique or any other Brand make a shade that's right for me. So I tried the skin base. On my skin I have some larger pores on my nose and the foundation somehow drew attention to them. I found that I needed to build it up which took extra time as its a medium not a fuller foundation. once it was on it looked ok but after only a short time I found the foundation had vanished from around my nose and cheek area and it really showed as my skin is a bit red there. When pixiewoo use the skinbase, it looks flawless but not me unfortunately. so I decided to buy the white mixer foundation to go with my Clinique and mix my own shades - to see how that goes :)
